'Zeggy' award goes to local restaurant
Top Zaxby's licensees were recognized recently for their restaurants' performance at the chain's coveted Zeggy awards ceremony held at an annual company conference.
Locally the Zaxby's at 1671 Knox Ave. received the highest award for Comp Sales, the highest percentage in comparable sales.

Other winners include the franchise in Statesboro, Ga., was recognized for the highest sales in the chain; operational excellence, Blue Ridge, Ga.; operational excellence (highest performance in standards excellence, speed of service; Blue Ridge, Ga., standards excellence (highest average score for meeting company standards; Hoover, Ala., speed of servicee (lowest averagedrive-thru window time for the year; Seneca, Guest Service, best average mystery shop scores for the year.
McLeroy and Townley opened four more restaurants, and in 1994, they began to franchise the brand. The food and service was so popular, the Athens, Ga. -- based chain has boomed to more than 470 units in 11 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) and continues to grow.
