Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com was down 10-5 to defending champion Upatoi Green after four chukkers but staged a well-organized offensive attack during the last two periods to send the game to sudden-death overtime.

Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com prevailed, capping a comeback on a successful penalty shot by Julian Daniels to win the 302 Polo USPA 16-goal Northrop Knox Cup presented by the Aiken Standard.

The Friday game between the teams also went into overtime, but Upatoi Green won that matchup 15-14.

Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com received a goal as a result of the handicap differential and held an early 4-3 lead going into the third chukker. Two quick goals by the green machine's Ruben Coscia, a successful penalty conversion by Eddy Martinez and another goal from the field by Coscia gave Upatoi Green a 7-4 lead.

Tom Uskup opened the scoring in the second half for Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com, reducing the margin to two goals, but Upatoi Green answered back with goals by Coscia, Horacio Onetto and Martinez, to open the lead to 10-5.

Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com dominated the fifth period. Daniels scored the period's first goal, and Tiger Kneece continued his strong play, scoring a natural hat trick to reduce the deficit to one goal.

Onetto scored on a 30-yard penalty shot in the sixth chukker, but Daniels answered back, taking the ball nearly the length of the field. Kneece tied the game in the closing minute to send the game into overtime.

"That's when you can't think - you have to put your head down, keep fighting and do it one goal at time," said Hugh Worsham with Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com. "You can't really think about the numbers, or they will overwhelm you. The key to success in Aiken is putting the right team together, the right four guys, their personalties and styles, so they mesh in the right way."

Upatoi Green's Martinez was selected as the most valuable professional player and John Flournoy as the most valuable amateur player.

Foxdale Equine/MavOffice.com's Tom Uskup's Luna won the best playing amateur pony, and Tiger Kneece's Nika won the best playing professional pony.
