A weather balancing act

What if you could control the weather to create perfect conditions year round?
Is it possible? Some say yes.
The idea of orgone generators is not new but is being tested as a way to combat the current drought by two residents of Windsor. A concept, called an orgone generator and drawing on the Chinese tradition of chi, the Chinese word for the natural energy of the universe, has been employed by Freda Tomlin and Linda Scott.
"We know the whole thing appears mystical and magical but we've got do something," said Scott with a chuckle. "The whole point of an orgone generator is to balance the energy between the atmosphere and the earth. The energy is out of balance."
The concept calls for aiming the generator tubes at the available sky in hopes of avoiding dangerous storms yet receiving rain in the amounts necessary to keep the balance in place, the ladies explained.
After months of watching storm systems coming toward Windsor, split in Aiken and bypass the area, Tomlin mentioned the idea to Scott earlier this month. Tomlin's son Wes has utilized orgone generators on his property in North Carolina for several years and has seen significant differences.
She said when he first purchased the land, he often saw thick fog, downpours you couldn't see through and hail; however, within days of installing the orgone generators these elements dissipated.
"I didn't believe any of this stuff," said Scott. "I was just doing it to make her (Tomlin) happy."
The pair purchased the parts for a generator: a five-foot stove pipe, an eight-foot aluminum dryer vent hose and a collar to join the two parts. After constructing the tube, they dug an eight-foot hole.
"You have to dig a deep hole to give maximum contact with the earth. The dryer vent hose touches the earth and the stove pipe holds the angle," Scott said.
After two days and much labor the first orgone generator was set in place.
"To my surprise, there was an almost immediate visible effect on the dark clouds drifting overhead. A small light spot formed, as if we were shining a light. The center of the light spot almost cleared completely, like the hole in a doughnut," Scott excitedly explained, as she pointed toward the sky in direct aim of the generator. "The cloud was moving slowly but too fast for something aimed at one tiny point in the sky to complete its work. The spot never finished forming, but it was clear something was doing something to the clouds. That was enough to convince me."
In the 24 hours following the installation of the first generator, Tomlin and Scott recorded a half inch of rain on their six acres and decided to install four more. In the weeks following, they have only received gentle rains while others nearby have encountered damaging winds and flooded streets or no rain at all.
In good spirits, Scott and Tomlin joke that they control the weather. The pair is realistic that not everyone will believe the idea, and many will approach it with extreme skepticism, but they don't care.
"It is like acupuncture; you have to believe in it for it to work," they said.
"Are they (orgone generators) causing the clouds to form doughnuts or is it just happenstance? We have nothing we can prove scientifically, and we aren't making any claims. We can't prove it; we can't disprove it. Mystical, magical - some call us a bunch of fruitcakes, but on the other hand we got rain last night, what'd you get?" said Scott, as she headed across her farm to care for her chickens.

Comment Title: Please, a Warning
A fascinating article. I'm imppressed by the innovation and effort needed to accomplish the project! HOWEVER, I must offer a gentle yet serious warning about it: the energy referred to is real, not a fantasy, and can be actually dangerous to "work" with - that is to say, dangerous to tamper with. I hope that the Tomlins will accept my apology for raining on their parade, as it were. To my knowledge, gained from more than 30 years of attention to various orgone energy functions, energy modifiers (including of the atmosphere) allowed to operate on a constant basis have always led to great difficulties and harm, sooner or later. Altering atmospheric orgone energy functions is not seen as a safe play area, such as with let's see what happens if we do such and such. The atmosphere is a "laboratory" which involves many strong natural functions which can change quickly in unpredictable ways. Also, it is shared by all of us downstream of the manipulation, not merely one or two property owners. An early example: "In the weeks following [installation] ... others nearby have encountered damaging winds and flooded streets or no rain at all." If those harmful outcomes might have been sponsored by the "generator", then we might all hope that Ms Tomlin and Scott will re-assess their situation and responsibility for other people's troublesome weather events. There's no need to take merely my word on the subject. Please refer to the most informative and responsible website on the subject: http://orgonelab.org/sobuildaclb.htm/ James
