AAJGA releases
summer schedule
The 2008 Augusta Area Junior Golf Association (AAJGA) has released its summer tour schedule, which will begin May 27.
The schedule has designated two series. The first series consists of play at Jones Creek Golf Club (GC) on May 27, Forest Hills GC on June 2, Belle Meade Country Club on June 16, Applewood GC on June 26, North Augusta Country Club on June 30 and Persimmon Hill on July 8.
The second series consists of play at Bartram Trail GC on June 9, Augusta Golf Course on June 12, Houndslake Country Club on June 19, West Lake Country Club on June 23, Midland Valley GC on July 1 and Pine Ridge Country Club on July 10.
The top point earners from each age group will qualify to play in the Rob Perry Championship July 18 at Cedar Creek GC and at Augusta Country Club July 21.
The membership fee of $130 covers all fees for the tournaments, prizes and the awards banquet, which will be held on July 22 at Warren Baptist Church. Food, beverages and range balls will not be provided by the AAJGA. The deadline for all memberships is June 1, or until the 150-player limit per series is reached.

CSRA Heat Volleyball Club
announces summer clinics
The CSRA Heat Volleyball Club will be hosting clinics on Sunday afternoons at Augusta Prep for girls fifth grade through high school. The clinics will run on Sundays from June 8 until Aug. 3. The cost is $85 (or $80 for those registered before June 1).

Mike Brandt to conduct
basketball camps
Mike Brandt, coach of the USC Aiken women's PBC co-championship women's basketball team, will be conducting basketball camps this summer. The day camps for boys and girls will be held June 23-26 and June 30-July 2. The varsity and junior varsity high school team camp will be held June 19-21. The Elite Girls Camp will be June 30-July 2. Tommy Dunbar to hold
baseball camp
Former Major League Baseball player and Graniteville native Tommy Dunbar will hold a baseball camp for youth ages 6-15 at Gregg Park in Graniteville June 9-12. Camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day. The price is $50, and while youth will need to bring their own gloves, drinks will be provided. For more information, call Dunbar at 642-8436.
South Aiken's girls' golf team to hold open spring practice
Girls entering grades 7-12 zoned for South Aiken High School that are interested in joining the golf team are encouraged to come to open spring practice. Open practices are scheduled for May 13, 15, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 and June 3, 4, 5. Practice will be held at Woodside Plantation Golf Course from 4-6 p.m. Players should come in the East Gate entrance, meeting at the driving range. Tryouts for the team will begin August 12.
