Star Player of the Week

Emeka Okafor is the final Star Player of the Week for the regular season, having bagged the honor in the 35-7 win against Aiken that boosted North Augusta High School to better standing in the football playoffs.

Okafor, a senior listed at 6-foot-4 and 201 pounds, plays defensive end and racked up 10 tackles against Aiken, including one for a loss and three solo efforts.

"He's very smart," said Dan Pippin, the Jackets' coach, crediting Okafor with "a very good game."

Pippin said the overall defensive effort was outstanding. As for Okafor, Pippin said, "He's just another one of the kids, like we've got a bunch of, that have worked very hard and is making us successful. He's worked very hard to be good, like the other 31 seniors that we have."

Okafor's season data include three fumble recoveries, seven sacks, seven tackles for a loss, 81 total tackles and 24 solo tackles. His parents are Kenneth and Ebelechukwu Okafor. He plans to enroll at the University of Florida or the University of South Carolina and major in biomedical engineering.
