Bartges-Britt vows said in Hopelands
Miss Elizabeth Jackson Britt and Mr. Vincent Paul Bartges exchanged wedding vows in Hopelands Gardens on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. The Rev. Richard McGough of Summerville, a high school classmate of the groom, officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Britt. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Bartges of Culpeper, Va.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a cream-colored gown with a ruched off-the-shoulder V-neck and V-back bodice and a lace and beaded skirt that fell to a cathedral train. She wore a cathedral-length fingertip tulle veil. She also wore a David Yurman sage amethyst ring, a wedding gift from the groom, and carried a hand-tied bouquet of white anemones, green and white hydrangeas, white mini-calla lilies and purple berries.
Matrons of honor were Mrs. Catherine Brown of Warrenville, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Tara Didelot of Ladson. Bridesmaids were Miss Brandi Markt of Greenville, Miss Darcy Mason of Hanahan, Miss Laura Zapp of Charleston and Miss Staci Symenski of Goose Creek. The honor attendants wore navy empire-waist Grecian-style gowns and carried hand-tied bouquets of blue hybrid delphiniums, cream double lisianthus and green hydrangeas.
Mr. Troy Bartges of Atlanta was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Danny Bartges, brother of the groom, of Staunton, Va.; Mr. Marc Mounts of Summerville; Mr. Mario Coaxum of Columbia; Mr. Robbie Burkett of Charleston; and Mr. Ronnie Hicks of Pointe Vedra Beach, Fla.
The ring "bear" was Master Caden McDonough Britt of Warrenville, nephew of the bride.
Providing special music was Miss Ashley Bailey of Mauldin, soloist, and Miss Lindsay Ford of North Augusta, guitarist.
Miss Christine McMakin of Spartanburg served as wedding director.
The mother of the bride wore a midnight blue gown with lace boatneck bodice, three-quarter gathered lace sleeves and a layered skirt that fell from a ruched and tied waistline. The groom's mother chose a wineberry gown featuring a sequined empire bodice and sequined bolero-style jacket.
Following a reception held at Rye Patch, the couple left for a wedding trip to Greece.

Va., godmother of the bride; Charles Pearce McDonough Britt of Warrenville, brother of the bride; Scott Brown of Warrenville, brother-in-law of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Brinkley III and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hines III, aunts and uncles of the bride; Miss Sarah Anne Brinkley, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Adam Kramer, all of Chesapeake, Va.; Mrs. Doris Peele and Mr. Martin Peele, both of Kenly, N.C.; Honey Bartges of Staunton, Va., sister-in-law of the groom; Christy, Jeremy, Ethan and Aaron Bowlby of Atlanta and Tonya, Charlie, Carter and Trenton Zuniga of Martinsburg, W. Va., sisters, brothers-in law and nephews of the groom; Paul and Janet Musser of Culpeper, Va., grandparents of the groom.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of South Aiken High School and a 2005 graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in English. She is employed as a junior account executive with Erwin-Penland advertising agency in Greenville.
The groom-elect is a 1999 graduate of Stratford High School in Summerville and holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from The Citadel, earned in 2003, and a Master's in Health Administration in 2005 from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. He is the Eastern Division vice president of Hospital Housekeeping Systems.
