Hoyt Charles Smith
Hoyt Charles Smith, 83, husband of Juanita Willing Smith, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at MCG Health in Augusta.
A native of Moultrie, Ga., Mr. Smith was a son of the late William Capers and Pearlie Tucker Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Smith was first married to the late Elise Reese Smith. He retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant after 33 years of service.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Juanita, include two sons and their wives, Charles S. and Donna Smith and Warren B. and Lisa Smith of Aiken; five grandchildren, Clairissa S. Miller, Lindsey S. Capps, Brandon B. Smith, Julia M. Smith and Brittany N. Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney Clair Wells and Whitney Wells.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Montmorenci First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Charlie Capps, Ben Miller, George Jenner, Danny Price and Jack Willing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home.
