Brazeal breaks junior golf tournament record
South Aiken High School senior Chandler Brazeal placed second and broke the tournament record for the annual Fall Challenge Junior Golf Tournament in Cheraw last weekend. He finished 8-under-par for the tournament with a two-round total of 138. He only missed first place by one stroke, falling to Cody Austin of North Charleston.
Chandler had 13 birdies for the tournament, with eight coming in round one alone, and broke the tournament record with his two-day total on the par 73 course in Cheraw. In round two, he had four birdies and no pars, finishing in second place behind Austin, who is ranked No. 1 in South Carolina Junior Golf, No. 11 in the United States and is a three time Rolex All-American Junior Golfer.
Both Brazeal and Austin broke the long-standing previous tournament record of 139.
Austin is a three-time winner of the Callaway Jr. World Junior Championship in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
