SOCCER
Lander 3
USC Aiken 2
A three-goal deficit proved too much for the USC Aiken men's soccer team to overcome in a narrow 3-2 loss to Peach Belt Conference rival Lander on Thursday evening.
The Pacers entered the second half down 3-0 to the Bearcats, but they rallied for two second-half tallies to push the Bearcats to the edge on Thursday. An equalizer would not come with the Pacers dropping their fifth straight match with the loss to the Bearcats.
USCA is now 4-8-1 on the year overall. The Pacers are 1-4 in the Peach Belt Conference. Lander is now 6-4-1 and 3-0-1 in the PBC.
Lander Girls 1
USCA Girls 0
The USC Aiken women's soccer team dropped another Peach Belt Conference heartbreaker on Thursday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to league foe and regionally-ranked Lander.
USCA has now lost seven straight, but the Pacers recent skid is a little misleading because five of USCA's total of eight one-goal losses have come in the stretch. The Pacers have been in almost every match that they have played with two of the eight one-goal losses coming in overtime in the last two weeks.
USCA is still searching for its first PBC victory on the year, falling to 2-10 overall and 0-7 in the conference with the loss to the Bearcats on Thursday. Lander improves to 8-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the PBC with its victory over the Pacers.
