Roberson named a finalist

Dr. Frank Roberson, a former Aiken County School District associate superintendent, is one of three finalists for Richmond County School District's superintendent vacancy.

For the past year, Roberson has served as superintendent of the Marlboro County School District, but has continued to maintain a permanent residence in Aiken County.

"It's home," Roberson said of the new opportunity. "This puts me back in the CSRA, a chance that doesn't come around on a regular basis. It's an opportunity to give back to the community."

Roberson was associate superintendent for instruction in Aiken County before resigning in 2005 to take a similar position in Edgefield County. He later served in an interim superintendent role there. He was a finalist for the Aiken County superintendent position in 2007, but lost out to current superintendent Dr. Beth Everitt.

According to media reports, the Richmond County School Board will choose from Roberson and two other finalists Aug. 10.
