Woman dies in single-car crash

A 23-year-old Aiken woman died in a single-car crash on Outing Club Road early Tuesday.

Elizabeth Boyd was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Boyd, who was driving and was alone in the Ford Taurus, was traveling north on Outing Club Road, Carlton said. Outing Club Road is between Interstate 20 and Vaucluse Road.

She lost control of the car and crossed into the southbound lane.

The car left the roadway and struck a tree on the driver's side door, he said.

Boyd had to be removed from the car by Aiken County Emergency Services, Carlton said.

She was taken to Aiken Regional where she died of multiple body trauma, he said.

Boyd was wearing a seat belt, he said.

Toxicology reports are pending, he said.

The Tuesday morning car crash is the 22nd fatal car crash in Aiken County this year.
