Standoff in Jackson ends after negotiations
A standoff with a Jackson man late Wednesday known to have a number of guns in the home ended after several hours of negotiations with Aiken County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Terry Lee Hornsby, 43, of 1243 Old Jackson Highway in Jackson, is charged with criminal domestic violence high and aggravated and the possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Deputies first responded to a domestic dispute at the home. They learned that the victim, Janice A. Hornsby, 40, and the 43-year-old man had been arguing about missing medication, which he blamed her for, the police report states.
Janice Hornsby told investigators Terry Hornsby pointed a gun at her and he turned away from the victim and fired the gun several times, striking a television. She said she left the home to call for help.
She told investigators he had several guns inside and a number of cameras installed. He could watch what was going on outside, she said.
The County's tactical unit made a number of attempts to lure the suspect outside, but he would not respond, officials said.
The tactical team, sometime around 11 p.m., entered the residence and took the man into custody.
He was treated by Aiken County EMS and then taken to the Aiken County detention center.
