Wagener man killed in crash
A 40-year-old Wagener man died Thursday night in a single-car crash on Highway 39.
Stanley A. Jones died of multiple body trauma, according a release by Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Jones was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Jones was traveling north on Highway 39 between Family Circle Road and Daytona Drive where he lost control of his 2000 Dodge 15000 pick up truck. Mr. Jones crossed the southbound lane, left the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side of that vehicle. Rainy weather may have been a factor in this crash, according to Carlton.
Authorities think Jones was returning to his home from work near Wagener.
This is the thirteenth fatal traffic collision in Aiken County this year.
Toxicology is pending. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
