Suspect sought in Monday morning robbery
On Monday, around 10 a.m. the Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to the Hot Spot convenience store at 831 South Main St., New Ellenton, for an armed robbery. According to witnesses, the suspect came in armed with a black handgun and ordered the customers to the floor.
The suspect is described as an African-American man in his twenties, between six feet and six feet two inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds and wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants, a mask and gloves.
The suspect demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money from the clerk. He was last seen fleeing the scene in a red or burgundy four-door Dodge Stratus.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME - SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
