Student science fair is today

The Savannah River Regional Science and Engineering Fair competition will be held at the USC Aiken Business & Education Building today.

Project registration will run from 8 to 10:30 a.m., with judging to follow from 11 a.m. to noon. Winners will be posted at 4 p.m.

The projects will be open to the public from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with awards presented from 5 to 6 p.m. More than 300 CSRA students were expected to qualify for the event. The winner of each regional competition will be eligible to travel to San Jose, Calif., for the year's international competition.

The science fair is sponsored by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.

Breakfast will aid Kidney Benefit

Applebee's will host a breakfast on behalf of the Aiken Kidney Benefit production of "Cinderella" today from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Tickets are $10, and $8 from each ticket will be used to help dialysis patients who are having trouble meeting living expenses. All of the main characters from the musical comedy will appear at the breakfast.

"Cinderella" will debut Friday at the URS Center for the Performing Arts, formerly the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 124 Newberry St. N.W. For ticket information, visit www.aikenkidneybenefit.com and click on the date desired or call 648-1438.
