Spring Kidsignment sale starts Friday
Aiken's moms and dads have a chance to do some savvy shopping for the family this weekend at the 2010 Spring Pass It On Kidsignment Sale.
The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at First Baptist Church of Aiken.
The gently-used children's clothing, toys, bedding, furniture and other child-rearing equipment will be reasonably priced Friday, with most clothing between $1 and $5, and everything will be marked down to half-price on Saturday, according to sale co-chair Vicki Smith.
"Since this is the spring sale, most of what we've got is either for spring/summer or all-season," Smith said. "We've got maternity, infant, child and teen sized clothes, including some prom dresses, so we've got something from before they're born up to when they're grown."
There will be plenty to choose from, as the sale has more than 250 consignors and donors providing items. The Parents' Day Out ministry began the fundraisers in April of 1997, and the sale has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, according to Smith.
Shoppers can purchase sale items by cash or check; proceeds benefit First Baptist Church's Parents Day Out program and more than 20 local charities. The fall sale is scheduled for September.
"We have absolutely the best bargains around. This is where you want to be to shop this weekend," Smith said. "In past years, we've had 500 people come in the door in the first hour of the sale on Friday."
