Man gets three years for porn, giving alcohol

An Aiken man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to eight charges related to giving alcohol to four children and showing them pornographic materials.

James Kevin Taylor, 39, of Wyman Street in Aiken, admitted four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and distribution of harmful materials.

He was sentenced to three years and will be placed on the sex offender registry.

The night of Sept. 6, Taylor was looking after four children at a motel room in Aiken. During the course of the night, Taylor, who was a highly intoxicated, showed the children, ages 5 to 13, a pornographic video and allowed them to drink alcohol.

There was an accompanying charge of a lewd act, but this charge was dismissed. The allegations were of inappropriate touching to an 11-year-old's clothed buttock. There were no allegations of any sexual contact or penetration.

The case was set to go before a jury Tuesday afternoon, but the defendant decided to plead guilty and accept the negotiated plea offer.
