Perry woman killed in crash
A Perry woman has died and another woman was injured following a two-car accident in Wagener Sunday afternoon.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton identified the victim as Geneise R. Williams, 43. She was the passenger in a 2005 Nissan Altima, driven by Jennifer Abney of Irmo.
Carlton said Abney was driving north on South Dixie Road in Wagener around 3 p.m. She failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn onto Holiness Church Road.
The Nissan was struck in the passenger side by a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Ronnie H. Toole Jr., of Salley, who was traveling south on South Dixie Road.
Williams, who died at the scene, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, Carlton said.
Abney was transported to the Medical College of Georgia's shock trauma unit with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, said Carlton. Toole had no life-threatening injuries and remained at the scene.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. This is the third fatal crash in Aiken County this year, Carlton said.
