Woodside is focus of magazine article
"Where to Retire" magazine profiles Woodside Plantation in its March/April 2009 issue.
Aiken's upscale, gated community has many features which appeal to the magazine's readers, its editor said, like leisure and social venues which will be highlighted in the publication's Best Neighborhood section.
"This wooded, all-ages community offers ample leisure opportunities for active retirees with four golf courses, riding trails, miles of walking paths and social opportunities in a variety of clubs and groups," said Editor Mary Lu Abbott.
"The Village at Woodside, currently under construction, will include town homes, a grocery store, wellness center, home design center and boutique shopping just outside the community gates."
Woodside Plantation Vice President of Marketing Diana Peters said staff with "Where to Retire" magazine spent a significant amount of time in Aiken last year to get a real "flavor" for the community.
"Aiken's charming town center, quality medical facilities, mild climate and sporting and cultural events provide an appealing milieu for retirees in this popular community," Abbott said.
Visitors also find Woodside Plantation has extensive green space, two private country clubs and attractive homes.
Peters said "Where to Retire" magazine is an important tool for retirees who are looking to relocate to areas which will fit their lifestyles. That equals a feather in Woodside's cap that the magazine features the 3,000 acre community, she added. "Hopefully it means more people will relocate to Aiken."
"Where to Retire" magazine was launched in 1992 with the goal of helping its readers find the ideal place to retire. It is published six times a year and covers retirement regions, towns and master planned communities with a national circulation of 220,000.
