Energy freedom is a necessity

And to keep our country sound for the future -

We must strive to be sound fiscally.

Work to keep our balance of payments on a more positive side.

Plan to reduce our national debt, not always increase it.

Utilize our natural resources to reduce our dependence on foreign energy.

Defuse international tension and reduce chances of war.

Capitalize on our technology; develop efficient capture of resources.

Sustain a positive thrust and recognize compromise is a necessity.

Leadership, at all levels, will be required to begin. Congress should not be so fast to respond to defined crisis; the problems have been years in the making. Repetition of the same errors of throwing money at the problem by Congress, appears not well thought out, as demonstrated by the use of TARP. The media would be better utilized if they would practice not making the news, but stimulating more discussion regarding the various solutions available.

Our negative balance of payments, of which payment for foreign oil is a contributor, needs to be addressed. Our nation needs to pay attention to our vast energy resources, oil and coal included, and push hard to make it feasible for their use. This act , and our growing debt, help to create a force that multiplies available money for the world to spend - and create inflation, (deflation with a reversal) that we are now just seeing the results of. Compare this as to how banks lend out up to seven times deposited assets. (Our bonds and deficit in balance of payments owned by our creditors)

Whether it is true or not, the perception that we as a country seek to preserve a positive flow of oil, does not help in maintaining a peaceful attitude in the Middle East. By removing the need of so much oil, we automatically reduce chances for conflict.

We have proven technological breakthroughs - scrubbers for smoke stacks, catalyst for the removal of mercury and other undesirable pollutants; as well as breakthroughs to capture vast oil deposits discovered in the upper Midwest. We must not blind ourselves to a working compromise, as we will indeed weaken, even destroy, our country to see the survival of powers such as China, polluting the world at an unabated rate. We need the time, 15 years, to develop meaningful alternate energy resources.

All of this, planning for a national recipe to work our way to a solution, requires each and every one of us to become involved and contribute positive action to reach goals that will put our nation on the road to energy independence and fiscal responsibility.

Questions linger about Obama

For the benefit of those who are addicted to the mainstream news, here's an update on Barack Obana's attempt to usurp the presidency.

On Dec. 4, 2008, the Supreme Court decided to address Donofrio vs Wells by not addressing it, by simply denying the writ of certiorari.

On Dec. 12, 2008, the Supreme Court decided to address Wrotnowrski vs Bysievicz by not addressing it; by simply denying the application to stay the election and denying the injunction disallowing the Electoral College, to vote on Dec. 15, 2008.

There are many more lawsuits in the works; it is doubtful the Supreme Count of the U.S. will give them a hearing either; choosing, instead, to simply side-step the issue without explanation or justification.

What the Court is saying is that the American people are stupid and cannot see through this con game.

If Mr. Obana has a legitimate birth certificate why doesn't he simply produce one? It is his responsibility to prove that he meets the qualifications. Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution states, "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, shall be eligible to the office of the President." If he was born in Kenya that makes him ineligible.

I suspect that the courts know this and simply do not want to address the issue. That makes them guilty of malfeasance, in which case they need to be impeached. These black robed criminals took an oath to defend the Constitution from enemies within and without.

Let none dare call it treason; if it prosper.

Vet's staff part of the family

If you've ever loved or lost a pet, you know what an important part of your family pets can be. If you've ever wondered where to go to get the best care for your pets and the best service from a truly compassionate staff, I hope you have found Aiken Animal Hospital.

I want to acknowledge and thank Dr. Cindy Brown and the staff at Aiken Animal Hospital for the exceptional care they provided my Sammy. Through the many years I have been blessed enough to know the staff, they have taken a personal interest in more than just our four-legged family members. The care they have shown our family has had a special impact on our lives. They are a treasure to have in our community that proves, when you truly love what you do it shows through your work.

I know many friends and family members that have been touched in some way by the love and compassion their office gives freely, by going out of their way to do all they can. Although we've lost our gentle giant, Sammy, I know he's still being cared for by a member of their staff whose dedication will continue though they have both gone to a better place. At Aiken Animal Hospital, you are not just a number or a client, you are a member of their family.

Christian store welcomes all

As proprietor of the new Abundant Vine Christian Store in Aiken, I would like to express our appreciation for the article April Bailey did for us in Friday's newspaper, and express our appreciation for the community support we have already felt after our first week in business.

We wanted to alert our community, however, to one change from the information listed in the article. The telephone number listed in the article, though valid for us on the day of the interview, was changed through no fault of our own after the article was written. We sincerely apologize to the people of Aiken for any inconvenience this has caused. We would like to make sure that all those who have been trying to reach us have the correct phone number for our business.

The correct phone number for Abundant Vine Christian Store is 803-642-7859. Please make a note of it. We appreciate all your phone calls and don't want to miss them!

God bless you all, and we hope to see you in our store soon. We are located right next to Ross' Dress for Less in Hitchcock Plaza, and have convenient store hours of 10-7 Monday-Friday, and 10-5 on Saturday. Come, grow in the Vine with us.

We hope to be your No. 1 source for Christian resources, and look forward to seeing you soon!

Comment Title: Show Me The Birth Certificate
I hope the issue of the birth certificate is resolved on Friday, 1/23/09. It is beyond belief that a man of CJ Roberts' stature would give Obama a free pass if he is not eligible for the presidency.

Comment Title:
Obama can't be POTUS. Since no congressman and senator objected on 1/8/09 to Congress' count and certification of the electoral vote which would have turned resolution of Obama's eligibility issue over to Congress, rendering moot both the Berg and Lightfoot cases, Berg finally does achieve standing on the issue of actual harm, to be addressed at the 1/9/09 SCOTUS Conference on Writ of Certiorari. Obama's failure to submit evidence of his constitutional qualification for the 1/9/09 conference will mean he cannot thereafter challenge Berg's request to enjoin the 1/8/09 Congressional electoral count and certification, albeit retroactive, scheduled for SCOTUS conference 1/16/09. Moreover, Chief Justice Roberts has scheduled a full Court conference on the Lightfoot case 1/23/09 in the event there needs to be a Constitutionally mandated action, the Inauguration itself, to enjoin retroactively. Checkmate! (WHERE IS THE NEWS MEDIA?)

Comment Title: Obama
Andy Windham needs to get over it. Obama is the president and there is no one better equipped than him... black or white, republican or democrat to get us out of this mess. It wasn't made in a day and won't be cleaned up in a day but at least Obama has the brains and savy to make the best effort and we need the best effort... not disgruntled malcontents.
