Young endorsed for House seat
I am writing to endorse Tom Young for the House District 81 seat.
I have known Tom since he was a student in my senior English class at Aiken High School. He impressed me then with his studiousness (he was valedictorian of his class), his organization, and his leadership qualities as student body president.
Tom was well liked and respected by students and teachers alike; he was a good listener and a quiet leader who was able to work with others to achieve a goal. I was pleased when Tom continued his leadership career as president of the Student Government at the University of South Carolina, and I think he is an excellent choice to represent us in the State Legislature.
In his race for the House, Tom presents a thoughtful and reasonable platform for progress. I am particularly proud that Tom, a product of our Aiken County public schools, pledges his support of public education, which I believe is essential if we are to have an informed electorate and a qualified work force, both of which are essential to a strong economy and a strong democracy.
I urge you to vote for Tom Young, a young man of conviction who will represent us well in the State Legislature.
