USC Aiken English professor and Aiken Standard columnist Dr. Tom Mack will bring his latest book to the library this weekend.

Mack will give a presentation and book signing at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Aiken County Public Library. The event is free and open to the public, and copies of the book will be available to buy at the program for $19.95.

Mack has recently released "Circling the Savannah: Cultural Landmarks of the Central Savannah River Area" through The History Press Inc. The book explores the story of Aiken County and surrounding areas through some of the region's richest historical sites.

"I know Dr. Mack's column in the Aiken Standard is a great way to discover some wonderful sightseeing and cultural possibilities locally and around the Southeast, so a book by him that highlights the attractions of the Central Savannah River Area will be even more informative," said Michael Swan, Aiken County Public Library manager. "Dr. Mack will give a slide show of photographs from his travels in the CSRA and will sign copies of the book Saturday."

Mack writes a weekly column, "Arts and Humanities," which runs on Fridays in the Aiken Standard. He has been with USCA for 30 years, specializing in American literature, and holds the G.L. Toole Chair in English. He was named a Carolina Trustee Professor in 2008 by the USCA Board of Directors.
