A pizza delivery driver was robbed late Wednesday when he showed up at an abandoned home and was attacked by a man squatting in the bushes and another who was also lying in wait, according to reports.

About 10:30 p.m., the Domino's pizza carrier drove up to the home at 129 Simonds Street and walked to the door.

When he received no answer, he returned to his pickup truck but was grabbed by the throat, said Lt. Michael Frank, a spokesperson for the agency.

A second attacker then grabbed pizza, wings and his keys and ran away, deputies said.

After the victim was let go, he ran to a nearby home and asked the resident to call 911.

The deputy who met with the victim noticed the victim's injuries on his face and neck and called for Aiken County EMS.

The pizza carrier explained the details of the attack.

After he didn't get a response at the door, he said he headed back to his vehicle and then spotted the person squatting in the bushes by the abandoned home. He said he kept walking but was grabbed around the throat by one man who instructed another man to take the money.

The assailant began searching the victim's pockets for money, grabbing his tips out of his front pants pocket.

He also said the man searching his pockets was ordered to punch him but said that was when he was let go.

When he got back to his pickup truck, the food and his keys were gone, and he went for help, deputies said.

The Aiken Bloodhound Team responded and searched the immediate area.

The victim did not give any description of his attackers.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Investigator Charles Cain at the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (800) 922-9709.

Individuals also should call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Individuals can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward between $50 and $1,000.

Dumb Criminals of the Week :  7/25/2008

At least there were no guns involved. I've read stories like this before. Sounds like harmless pranks by bored teens off of school for the summer. If I set up this crime, I'd have called The Pizza Joint or Ferrando's. Domino's in the cheapest and least tasty pizza in Aiken.
