Winning Pie Recipe

Submitted by Rhana Synak

Crust

2 cups all-purpose flour

1âÑ2 cup cooking oil

1âÑ4 cup milk

Dash of salt

Dash of cinnamon

Filling

3 cups sliced apples (Synak used a combination of Fuji and Granny Smith apples in her pie)

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tbsp. flour or tapioca (for thickening)

Method

Mix together well-sliced apples, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon and flour or tapioca in a bowl. Let stand for about 15 minutes. While waiting, mix cooking oil, milk, a dash of salt, cinnamon and then add flour. Blend well. Divide dough in half. Form into a ball and roll between two pieces of wax paper. When it is the desired size, remove top paper carefully, lift bottom paper, turn over and place on pie plate. Fill with apple mixture. Roll the other half the same way and cover the pie. Roll the edges to seal. Bake at 350 to 375 degrees for about one hour.
