Local news in brief for March 18

A 43-year-old Aiken man has been jailed on allegations he crawled under the fence at an SCE&G substation Tuesday, cut copper wiring and removed a half-dozen pieces of aluminum wires from the property, officials said.
Richard Allen Lowe Sr., 43, of Morton Avenue, is charged with grand larceny, possession of burglary tools, injury to real property and malicious injury.
Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, deputies said a suspicious person was spotted around the fence line at the power substation.
Deputies said the man had crawled under the fence surrounding the property and taken the wires.
