LETTER: City asked to add e-mail addresses
I recently wanted to send a message to my Aiken City Council representatives. So I went to the City of Aiken website planning to send an e-mail. I was very surprised to find that the Aiken City Council representatives and mayor apparently do not have e-mail, or if they do, the e-mail addresses are not provided on the City website.
In this day of electronic communication I find it disappointing that the City Council has not taken the simple step of providing the citizens they represent a simple and easy way to contact them and to provide input. I can contact my congressmen, my state representatives and my Aiken County Council representatives by e-mail. Why should I not be able to contact my City Council representatives in the same manner?
Perhaps they don't want to hear from those they represent? (In all fairness the City of Aiken website does provide phone numbers for each representative and the mayor.) So I challenge you Aiken City Council - within the next 30 days set up e-mail access for each representative and the mayor and publish this information on the City of Aiken website.
