Fox Creek swept Silver Bluff in first region series after beating the Bulldogs 11-0 and 10-0.

After getting rained out on Friday, the Predators came back to shut out Silver Bluff again in six innings on Saturday.

Fox Creek found a groove at the plate against the Bulldogs, turning many singles into doubles and triples with aggressive base running and additional power hitting.

Head coach Roby Gillespie said the team responded well after a 5-0 loss to Emerald on Thursday.

“Just taking it one game at a time,” he said. “I think that puts us at 9-1 on the year, so just loving the way the program is going. The guys answered back after a tough loss at Emerald on Thursday night.”

The Predators went through their entire lineup in the first inning and struck early with a three-run homer from infielder Will Frischmann to open up scoring. Fox Creek scrapped another run across the plate to take a 4-0 lead going into the second inning.

Frischmann finished the day with two hits in three tries with three RBI and crossing the plate twice.

Will Fountain had a successful day on the mound and at the plate for Fox Creek. The right hander pitched for four innings, striking out seven while allowing no runs on three hits and walking three batters.

Fountain was also an asset at the plate, going 2-for-3 and hitting a leadoff single in the fourth, turning it into a triple off of an error in right field.

“Will throws a lot of strikes and he's a competitor,” Gillespie said. “He loves to compete. Anytime there's a runner on base, I feel like he throws better when he's in a pressure situation. And I think that he just carries over to his at bats. He just loves the spotlight on him. He loves to be under that pressure and make big time plays and I think it showed today. I think he's a great player.”

Fox Creek didn’t have a single batter strike out throughout the game and scored at least one run in every inning except the third. The offense is getting closer to fulfilling the three B’s of Fox Creek baseball, Gillespie said.

“We're starting to find barrels a lot more,” he said. “We talked about it the other day at practice, the three B’s of our baseball program are barrels, base running and bunting. We're still struggling with the bunting aspect right now.”

The Predators start another Region 3-AA series on Tuesday, March 19 at home against Pelion. Now 2-0 in the region and 9-1 overall, Fox Creek hopes to keep the momentum going.
