A fifth individual has been charged in connection to the murder of a 35-year-old Aiken man at the Pace's Run Apartments on Brandt Court last month.

Aimen Elroy Stewart, 22, of Aiken, was arrested in Norfolk, Virginia, on a warrant issued by the Aiken Department of Public Safety for assault and battery by a mob resulting in death.

He is currently awaiting extradition to South Carolina from Virginia.

Stewart is the fifth individual to be charged in connection to the shooting death of Makenzie Loron Williamson on Sept. 30.

Erick Albany Jr., 17, of the 300 block of Aiken Road in Graniteville, was charged Monday with first-degree assault and battery by mob resulting in death, according to jail records.

Albany was arrested in Hampton County and extradited to Aiken County from the Hampton County Detention Center on Monday, according to the report.

Kartel D’Marco Smith, 19, of Aiken, and a 15-year-old unnamed juvenile male are both being charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Larry Lenard Thomas, 18, of Aiken, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, according to jail records.

Aiken Public Safety investigators were able to connect all the subjects to the murder of Williamson, the agency states.

Officers arrived at Brandt Court shortly after 9 p.m. on Sept. 30 to find Williamson unconscious and lying on his back with two gunshot wounds, according to the incident report.

EMS transported Williamson to Augusta University Medical Center, where he later died, the release states.

Albany, Smith and Thomas are all being held at the Aiken County detention center. The juvenile is currently incarcerated at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
