The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation after a man was shot Friday evening in Wagener. 

A 911 caller reported a person had been shot at 18 Pine St. around 7:40 p.m. Friday, said Capt. Eric Abdullah, with the Sheriff's Office, in a news release Saturday morning.

When responding deputies arrived to Pine Street, they found a black male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his arm, abdomen and foot, according to the release.

The responding deputies began first aid on the victim until Aiken County EMS arrived on scene.

The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition; however, his current medical condition is unknown, according to the release.

Investigators responded to the scene after witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area before the victim was found, the release states.

Neither witnesses nor the victim could provide any information or description of any possible suspects, according to the release.
