An Aiken man was arrested Saturday following a shooting incident on Richardson Lake Road.

Trevor Jataurus Mckie, 31, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, deputies responded to the 800 block of Richardsons Lake Road are 4:36 a.m. for a shooting incident.

When they arrived, deputies discovered the victim in the garage of the home suffering from a gunshot wound, the release said.

The victim told deputies she and her common law spouse, identified as Mckie, were involved in an argument when he shot her with a handgun, according to the release.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Mckie was taken to the Aiken County detention center.
