Tax money

Now that the city owns Whiskey Road, Southside tax money should be used to put up streetlights and sidewalks.

SAHS coaches

I think the person commenting on the South Aiken coaches needs to grow up. They work very hard with our kids to teach them football fundamentals. They give their life to these kids. Yes, they've had struggles, but that's a part of it.

Trim hedges

Aiken is a beautiful place, but the hedges and flowers in the medians block peoples' view and are going to cause an accident. They need to be trimmed.

Course operation

Prestigious courses like Cedar Creek (Golf Digest rave review) and the River Golf Club operate semi-privately to bolster attendance and support operating expenses. Certainly Houndslake could benefit as well by attracting non-member players to its golf facilities with reasonable fees, as do other golf clubs. Who knows, that sort of action could possibly attract more full memberships.

Coach Bowden

I'm sorry to hear the bad things about Coach Bowden, who is a good Christian family man.

Lower costs

A few months ago, our electric company had an increase because of the high costs of fuel. Now that fuel costs have gone down in our area, our bills should be lowered. It should be required that businesses that have a cost increase because of fuel should also be made to have a cost decrease when fuel is lower. This should be for groceries, too. What can we do to see that this is done? Where do we start? I know there are many of you, like me, that are mad as heck to have to still pay higher prices even though fuel costs are down.

Chicago

Maybe the United States should pull out of Chicago instead of Iraq. In the last six months, 292 murdered in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq. State pension fund is $44 billion in debt. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax is 10.25 percent, highest in the country. Chicago's school system is rated one of the worst in the country. The city is run entirely by Democrats. And Obama is going to fix Washington? God help us.

Comment Title: Food Stamps
SO.... your on food stamps and have internet.... So... now how much does that cost us, I mean you a month? This is what frustrates me... If you can't afford food then how can you afford internet?...

Comment Title: Here we go again...
Not everyone abuses the system. The food stamps I get isn't even enough to cover a month of grocery bills. I try to get whatever I can afford, or catch some really good sales. It irritates me--when I applied to get food stamps, I was asked to provide proof of income, rent, electric, water, trash, phone, and daycare expenses...I asked the caseworker about car insurance-that wasn't a necessity, so I could not count that as a deduction. I barely get by. Yes there are people who abuse the system, people abuse every system there is. I work just as hard (or harder) then the people that live in a big house that drive fancy cars and can eat steaks every night. I work hard, but still need help, it's embarassing to have to pull out that EBT card when I get groceries, but I'll do what I have to, to provide for my children. Go rant and rave about something else.

Comment Title: Bowden
Maybe Cullen Harper should have worried more about his performance on the field than shooting his mouth off about Coach Bowden
