CHARLESTON (AP) -- Authorities say two women have died after a cement truck crashed into the car they were in and partially filled it with cement.
Highway Patrol Corporal Paul Brouthers tells The (Charleston) Post and Courier that the women were in the front seat of a Honda that abruptly changed lanes in front of the cement truck on Interstate 26 on Monday afternoon.
Brouthers says the truck couldn't stop and crashed into the Honda, landing on top of the car.
Pete Rogers with the Charleston Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad says cement then started to fill the car and it took 20 rescuers with shovels to dig out the women, who then had to be cut from the car.
Troopers say a third woman in the back seat of the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
