TalkBack for May 9

Wild dogs are the real problemWhy do coyotes get everyone so gung ho when there’s a gnawed a deer carcass? We have a greater stray dog problem. They get in packs and eat the neighbor dogs. Why do coyotes get the attention when the big problem is wild dogs?Someone could give you a signSomeone inquired in TalkBack as to where they could find a “Vote No” sign in Graniteville. I would first check with one of the homes displaying three or four signs in their yard. Maybe they would share one. If you are not successful, there are a number of vacant homes with signs in the front yard also.Trapping squirrels isn’t necessaryI live in an upscale-gated community in Aiken. Several neighbors seem to take pleasure in trapping and killing the squirrels. These little creatures are doing no harm at all and actually are a joy to watch. I don’t feel these neighbors should kill squirrels especially when so many of us enjoy them.LensCrafters is very friendlyI want to say something nice about LensCrafters in the Aiken Mall. They are all so customer service oriented. Recently, a friend of ours broke her glasses, which she had purchased out of town. I took her to LensCrafters and they didn’t hesitate to fix her glasses (for free!) even though she hadn’t purchased them there.  We will remember Eight BellesA special thanks to the Legacy Stables and Rod Stevens for training the champion, Eight Belles. She made each day a special one. She ran hard and never complained. It was her time to spread her wings. We will never forget her smile and the love she had for everyone. May God be with you; Eight Belles will always be nearby. How can a public road turn private? How can a road that has been a public road since 1950 and has state highway signs and markings be blocked off and considered private?Call our TalkBack hotline at (803) 644-2384 and leave your message, or e-mail it to us at editorial@aikenstandard. com.
