Police investigate stabbing in Aiken
Aiken Public Safety detectives are investigating a stabbing that reportedly occurred earlier this week on Fairfield Street, officials say. The victim was cut with a knife during a fight in the middle of the afternoon Tuesday.
Police did not say what prompted the fight but have turned the case over to its investigative division.
Road Show will be held on Saturday
The Stephen James CSRA Coin Club will hold a Road Show featuring a variety of coins, currency, tokens and exonumia at the Aiken County Public Library from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Specialists in various areas will be on hand to identify and evaluate items that people bring to the show for identification. There is no cost to the public and no items will be purchased. Rockaway Revue will be held today
The Aiken Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host an appearance of the Rockaway Revue, Inc. at Cedar Creek Church today at 7 p.m. The church is located at 3001 Banks Mill Road in Aiken. Admission is $10 per person.
The sorority is observing May as Senior Citizens Month and is sponsoring the musical program as a tribute to seniors throughout the CSRA.
The Rockaway Revue dates back to the earlier 1970s, with the first southern tour occurring in 1977. Currently the group has about 40 members, ranging in age from 60 to 88.
Mitchem to return to North Augusta
Teresa Mitchem, a 1991 North Augusta High School graduate, will return to the school as an assistant principal this summer.
She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree in elementary education and an education specialist degree in administration and supervision. For the past 12 years, Mitchem has served as a teacher at Glenn Hills Middle School in Augusta.
SRNS to hold town meeting tonight
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the business partnership that will assume the management and operations (M&O) contract at the Savannah River Site, will host a town hall-style meeting at the USC Aiken Convocation Center tonight at 6 p.m.
SRNS President and CEO Chuck Munns will host and moderate the meetings. The program will begin with a 15-minute overview of SRNS and an introduction of its leadership.For more information about SRNS, visit www.savannahrivernuclearsolutions.com.
Crackerneck open Saturdays in May
Aiken County's Crackerneck Wildlife Management Area and Ecological Reserve will be opened to the general public on Saturdays during the month of May.
A number of uses, including fishing and scouting, will be allowed. No weapons will be permitted during May.
Crackerneck Wildlife Management Area and Ecological Reserve consists of about 10,470 acres owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Crackerneck is in Aiken County along the Savannah River and lies south of the town of Jackson, off S.C. 125. It will be open Saturdays, May 17, 24 and 31.
For a detailed map of the Crackerneck Wildlife Management Area and Ecological Reserve, including specific rules and regulations, contact the S.C. Department of Natural Resources office in Aiken County at (803) 725-3663.

Horse project will meet on Thursday
The 4-H Horse Project will meet Thursday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of Boots, Bridles and Britches.
All youth ages 5-19 are welcome to join.

Music in the Park will be Thursdays
The 2008 Music in the Park Summer Concert Series will be held Thursday evenings now through July 31 at North Augusta's Maude Edenfield Park. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.
