In a game expected to be a defensive battle, Midland Valley was able to get some breaks on offensive to win its first-round playoff game against Crestwood High School, 28-11.
The first points of the game came when Midland Valley's Tyler Steelman sacked Willie Glover in the end zone for a safety. After several possessions ended with turnovers or punts, Crestwood completed a 73-yard pass to Domone Pringle to start the second quarter. Midland Valley's defense was able to make a goal-line stand and hold the Knights to a field goal.
On the next drive, Midland Valley, led by the passing game of Marquett Carr, drove 65 yards for a touchdown to take a 9-3 lead.
On a crazy play early in the third quarter, Crestwood was able to block a Midland Valley field goal attempt, but the defender who caught the ball, while trying to scramble, got tackled in the end zone for another safety. On the ensuing kickoff, Trey Walker was able to break free for a 75-yard touchdown return to put Midland Valley up 18-3.
Early in the fourth quarter, Crestwood finally put together a touchdown drive and completed a two-point conversion to make the score 18-11, but Midland Valley answered on the very next drive with a Jordan Holmes field goal to make the game 21-11 with only six minutes to play. Later in the fourth, Midland Valley running back Jeremy Robinson ran for the final score of the game.
"Our defense played a tremendous game tonight and our offensive was able to keep plugging against a very good defense until they put up some points," Midland Valley coach Rick Knight said, adding he's looking forward to next week's game at Myrtle Beach.

I agree! This nutcase is just jealous because their team didn't make the playoffs. I have already suggested to this "person" to find something else to do with their life because we don't care what "it" thinks. WE love and support our MUSTANGS.I will say it again, don't be jealous of our teams "accomplishments". GO MUSTANGS and beat MYRTLE BEACH!!!!!

Oh the contradictary... I love how you flamers talk. Last week it was "Crestwood still gonna whoop that tail!!" So what happened huh, I guess now you're going to say we only won because Crestwood sucks, just like you did when we beat Silverbluff. It seems that no matter who we beat you'll never admit wer rank anywhere. So shut your pie hole and root for your own team. Seriously we don't go around flaming news articles on other high schools in the county.
