The Region 3 Discovery Center in Blackville celebrates its second anniversary with presents for everyone.
The Region 3 Discovery Center, a part of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor, located on Highway 78 East in Blackville, opened its doors for visitors and residents in May of 2006 and has become a regional asset offering a wealth of knowledge.
During the month of May, the center is celebrating its anniversary by giving away goody bags and door prizes.
According to Tourism Supervisor Grace Jameson, every guest who visits the center this month will receive a door prize. Prizes include up to 40 percent discounts at the gift shop, free tour passes for a variety of destinations in the area and more. Additionally, goody bags are available for adults and children featuring items representative of a different county each week. The bags contain brochures, biographies of important figures in South Carolina history and prizes for children.
The Region 3 Discovery Center represents Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell and Orangeburg counties and is centrally located within the Heritage Corridor, a short drive from Aiken. The Discovery Center boasts a museum modeled after a train, complete with individual cars and a conductor, a building full of local art, a children's center, meeting rooms, a gift shop, a welcome center, an interactive tour and a wealth of information.
