Local a cappella group to perform on Hopelands' stage this evening

Vocal group South Boundary takes the stage tonight for the next installment of the Hopelands Gardens Summer Concert Series.
The group performs at 7 p.m. today on the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage in the city park off Whiskey Road. The concert is free and open to all ages, and alcohol is prohibited.
South Boundary is a new men's a cappella group that has been performing around town since December, most notably on Thursdays at Aiken Brewing Company on Laurens Street. The group of more than a dozen singers is led by founders Bill Riehl and Ben Lacy.
The group's repertoire includes the National Anthem, the 34th Psalm, standards such as "Oh Bury Me Out on the Lone Prairie," "Beautiful Dreamer" and "Pass Me By One Summer Day." They are experimenting with Anglican, African and Scottish chant styles and look to the likes of Chanticleer and the Whiffenpoofs for inspiration.
Upcoming performances in the Hopelands Gardens Summer Concert Series include Savannah River Winds on May 19; the Aiken Civic Ballet on May 26; the Carolina Rebels on June 2; the Fort Gordon Concert Band on June 9; Maureen Simpson and Friends with the Aiken Choral Society on June 16; Preston and Weston featuring Sandra Simmons on June 23; the DePriest Trio on June 30; the U.S. Marine Corps Band-Parris Island Marine on July 7; Chris Mangelly on July 14; Alysa Smith on July 21; the Aiken Brass on July 28; the Fort Gordon Dixieland Band on Aug. 4; Fabio Mann and Friends on Aug. 11; and Southern Nights on Aug. 18.
The series concludes with a 6:30 p.m. concert by the Aiken Community Band on Aug. 25. All other shows take place at 7 p.m. on the Windham stage; in the event of rain, performances may be moved to the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center or rescheduled.
