JACKSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta McKinney, 94, of Second Street, Jackson, who entered into rest May 9, 2008, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Posey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Davis Barton officiating. Interment will be Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. in McKinney Gap Cemetery, Altapass, N.C.
Mrs. McKinney was a native of Mitchell County, N.C., having made Jackson her home for the past 45 years. She was a member of the Altapass Church of God and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Dan" McKinney; three children, Yolanda Christian, Beverly Johnson and Dede McKinney; and one great-grandchild, Gena Christian.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Marie McKinney of Aiken, and Russell and Susie McKinney of Jackson; daughter, Catherine McKinney of Decatur, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Kathy McKinney of Jackson; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell McKinney, 426 Highland Circle, Jackson.
