Ernest Ruth 'Ermie' Golphin Garrett

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Mrs. Ernest Ruth "Ermie" Golphin Garrett died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Riverview Nursing Home, Savannah, Ga.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Walker Memorial Park, Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, with the Rev. James B. Moody officiating.
She attended public school at the Rosenwall School in Old Ellenton, S.C., and Bettis Academy in Trenton, S.C. She was a member of Canaan Fair CME Church, formerly of Dunbarton, S.C. Her husband, Daniel Garrett Sr., and her son, Daniel "Danny Boy" Garrett, preceded her in death. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Annie Lou Brayboy Golphin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sister, Mrs. Sadie Golphin Bing of Augusta; a stepson, Bruce Garrett of Atlantic City, N.J.; two grandsons, Vincent and Michael Garrett, both of Augusta; several great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; five brothers-in-law; nephews, Dr. Dana D. Bing of Augusta and Warren Hart of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, Alberta Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., and JoAnn S. Smith of Blackville; and a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the home of Sadie Bing, 809 Belafonte Drive, Augusta, or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home in Aiken on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.
