Police: Man possessed stolen goods, resisted
An Aiken man was arrested early Wednesday and charged with two counts of possession of stolen goods, unlawful carrying of a pistol and resisting arrest.
Jonathan J. Busch, 31, was questioned about a disturbance at a local hotel late Tuesday, and as police approached, the man took off running.
During the escape, police spotted a shiny object fall from the man's pocket.
An officer was able to catch him and take him into custody, at which point police found that the dropped object was a .40 caliber handgun.
Two AHS students fight over paint, police say
Two Aiken High School students were taken into custody Tuesday after a fight broke out at the Rutland Drive high school, police report.
The two began to fight after one of the students put paint on the other's chair, the report states.
The teenage girl sat in the paint and became angry, chasing the other student around the room until the teacher intervened.
The class bell rang, and both teenagers left the room.
The girl reportedly struck the other teen in the face.
The teen boy then hit her back and put her in a choke hold, then ripped portions of the girl's hair weave out, police reported.
Both students were taken into custody and charged.
Police investigate robbery
Aiken Public Safety is investigating a holdup at the Shell station on Huntsman Drive at the Aiken bypass.
Around 8:14 p.m., a man wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and khaki pants walked into the convenience store with a baseball bat, said Lt. David Turno, an Aiken Public Safety spokesman.
The man slammed the bat on the counter, startling the clerk, and received money, police said.
Turno said investigators were working late Wednesday with surveillance footage.
The suspect is described as a white male, but at press time investigators were attempting to release a better suspect description to media outlets.
The bat was recovered outside the store in shrubbery, Turno said.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) 559-TIPS (8477). Callers will remain anonymous and could receive a reward of between $50 and $1,000.
