South Aiken's boys' basketball team to hold golf tournament
The South Aiken High School boys' basketball program is sponsoring a golf tournament Oct. 24 at Cedar Creek Golf Club. The format is captain's choice and the cost is $60. Support South Aiken's basketball teams by playing in or sponsoring the 2008 T-Bred Golf Tournament. Adult basketball roster due by Nov. 7 at Citizens Park
Adult basketball rosters will be due by Nov. 7 at Citizens Park II. The league is open to men 16 and older. Cost is $300 per team with an additional $45 per person who lives out of the city limits. Fifth Outback Fundraiser
Dinner planned for tomorrow
Help support the Lady Pacer's Fundraising efforts for the Division II Disney Tip-Off Classic Oct. 31 - Nov. 2 by attending the fifth annual Outback Fundraiser Dinner at the Aiken Outback Steakhouse. The event will be held tomorrow with seating between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 and children under 10 years old eat for $10. Menu includes steak or chicken, side, salad and beverage.
Palmetto Track & Field

Palmetto Track & Field, a USATF Junior Olympic club, will have a cross-country running program for youth's ages 9 - 18, who are not on a high school cross-country team. Oklahoma-Texas game watch planned at Papa Russ's today
University of Oklahoma Sooner fans invite Texas Longhorn fans to watch the big game between the No. 1 Sooners and No. 5 Longhorns today. Mimi Jones, president of the OU (Alumni) Club of the Piedmont, hopes many fans will join her for the noon kickoff at Papa Russ's BBQ, located at 231 The Alley in downtown Aiken. Another alumna, Tiajuana Cochnauer, reports the special for the day will not be the regular Texas-style BBQ. Instead, it will be Sooner-style BBQ.
