At the Races
The half-brother of the 2002 Aiken-Trained-Horse-of-the Year, Congaree, won the 61âÑ2-furlong Joe Hernandez Stakes March 7 at Santa Anita Park by a half-length. Darley Stable's Sangaree, bred by Stonerside Stable, broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones and conditioned by Bob Baffert, won the race over the Pro-Ride surface that had originally been scheduled for the turf.
Spring Hill Farm's multiple Grade 1 placed Cassanova Move won a 1-mile allowance race by one length Saturday at Gulfstream Park. The 4-year-old daughter of Langfuhr is conditioned by four-time Eclipse Award winning trainer Todd Pletcher and was broken and trained in Aiken by Legacy Stable's Ron Stevens.
Gainseway Farm and Joseph Cornacchia's Touching Beauty held on to win a 7-furlong allowance race Sunday at Gulfstream Park by a desperate neck. The 3-year-old bay daughter of Grade 1 winner Tapit was broken and trained by Stevens.
