Judge revokes all bonds for Simpkins
A circuit court judge revoked all bond Monday morning for a 22-year-old man awaiting trial in a 2009 murder who has been arrested and released on bond five subsequent times.
Judge Doyet "Jack" Early accepted a motion by the Aiken County Solicitor's Office to revoke all bonds set for Freddie Lee Simpkins, 22, of Aiken, because Simpkins has continued to engage in criminal activity while out on bond, he said Monday.
Simpkins is one of two men charged in the October 2009 drug-related murder of 30-year-old Donald McCalla, and was released on $150,000 bond on the murder charge.
He has been arrested since for crimes ranging from possession of marijuana to grand larceny and two second degree burglaries, one as recently as Nov. 8, and has been given bond each time.
Simpkins, who appeared in court Monday shackled and handcuffed and wearing a red Aiken County detention center jumpsuit, will remain at ACDC awaiting trial.
