SAHS PTO offers fireworks for sale
The South Aiken High School PTO and the Football Team are raising funds with a fireworks stand, located at the Fountain of Life Church on Whiskey Road past Target.
The stand is open daily until July 4 from 9 a.m. to midnight. All proceeds will benefit the school.
Master Gardeners to be at market
The "Meet a Master Gardener" team will be at the Aiken Farmers Market Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon to answer gardening questions.
They will be located on the lawn area adjacent to the market. The Master Gardeners will demonstrate plant propagation from stem cuttings and provide ideas on drought-tolerant plants and native plants to use in a garden.
The new edition of the Aiken County Garden Almanac will be available for sale. For more information, call the Aiken Master Gardener Office at 649-6297, ext. 122.
MOX recognized for no accidents
Shaw Areva MOX Services surpassed 4 million consecutive work hours on June 23 without a lost-time accident during the construction of the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Savannah River Site.
More than 1,800 people are involved in the design, construction and administration of the MOX facility, intended to become operational in 2016.
The $4.8-billion MOX facility will convert surplus weapons-grade plutonium into mixed oxide fuel to be used in commercial nuclear power plants.
Graniteville movie to be shown July 9
A documentary on Graniteville titled "Graniteville: Past, Present, Future" will be shown at the Imperial Theatre in Augusta on July 9 at 7 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased by visiting www.imperialtheatre.com, the Imperial Theatre box office, or from ticketsage.com.
