Woman charged for hiding information on Dix murder
An Aiken woman who reportedly knew about the January murder of 18-year-old Huran A. Dix, of New Ellenton, and failed to cooperate fully with investigators has been jailed, officials said.
Ashley M. Serrano, 24, of Aiken, has been charged with misprision of a felony, a charge Aiken County Sheriff's Office Capt. Troy Elwell said that means a person had knowledge of a felony and failed to report it to law enforcement.
"She only partially cooperated," Elwell said. "She had the information, but it trickled out when it should have flowed."
Her failure to cooperate impeded the investigation, he added.
She was arrested Tuesday.
Investigators have already detained three suspects for their alleged roles in the Jan. 27 murder.
Christopher N. Parker, 24, faces charges for murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He was arrested on Feb. 2, in Pooler, Ga. He is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina.
Investigators said Parker fled from arrest following the discovery of the body of Dix on Jan. 29.
Prior to Serrano's arrest, investigators arrested two other suspects believed to be accomplices to the murder.
Marrio S. Parker, 31, and Pebbles N. Moyle, 28, both of Aiken, have been charged as accessories after the fact to murder.
Investigators have said the four suspects in custody have given various reasons for the shooting.
"Those stories have changed several times since the arrests," Elwell said.
According to police incident reports filed with the City of Aiken, Christopher Parker was identified as a possible suspect connected to a drive-by shooting at a Schroder Avenue home on Feb. 1.
Parker was detained on Feb. 2, in Pooler Georgia for the murder. He has not been charged with the drive-by shooting.
The resident living at the Schroder Avenue home told police in the City of Aiken that she believes her family was targeted because her daughter was cooperating with investigators as a "witness in a case that's under investigation."
