Sheriff: Arrests net 'main players' in Aiken drug trade 1/8/2009 12:00 AM
By KAREN DAILY Staff writer
Four people, whom Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt has called "main players in the drug trade," were arrested on Hampton Avenue late Tuesday after deputies said they caught the group with 17 pounds of marijuana, other drugs and more than $77,000 of drug money.
"Somebody's hurting today," the sheriff said about the amount of money and drugs taken off the streets during a traffic stop that resulted in four arrests.
The drugs have a street value of about $41,000, Hunt said.
Eric Lavell Frazier, 25, of Vincent Avenue in Aiken will be charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and assault and battery on a police office.
Johnny Lamont Frazier, 30, of Vincent Avenue in Aiken will be charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bennie Wright, 32, of Dillon Avenue in Aiken will be charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Shayla Holmes, 32, of Jackson Road in Jackson will be charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
All four have been arrested previously on multiple drug charges, said Lt. Troy Elwell, a spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
At a news conference the sheriff held Wednesday afternoon, Hunt explained that special operations division deputies have increased patrols in and around the Hampton Avenue area because of problems both Sheriff's Office deputies and Aiken Public Safety officers have witnessed ongoing in the area.
He said those deputies working the special detail noticed two vehicles stopped in the middle of the intersection at Morgan Street and Hampton Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
They initialed a traffic stop and found two people in each vehicle, he explained.
The deputies said they found a number of gallon-size zipper bags packed with marijuana, seven ounces of cocaine, a firearm and cash stashed inside a stopped 2001 Dodge pickup truck and a 1991 Chevrolet Suburban.
Hunt said state agents, Aiken Public Safety officers and to Sheriff's Office deputies have been targeting the Hampton Avenue area near Pinecrest Avenue to curb what has been an ongoing crime problem.
He said the patrols Tuesday night were a part of that effort.
"This was the result of good police work," he said.
Both vehicles involved have been seized.
All four suspects are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Comment Title: Aiken Idiots
Anti po po,, sorry one of your homeboys won't be kicking it with you anytime soon. Mike Hunt is doing a fine job, he is trying to clean Aiken up. He knows where the problems are and he is working on them. I would expect someone who does drugs would hate the "po po".

That is the most stupid thing i have read on talkback in a while.. Thank you for reminding me that there are still people that dumb in the world.. But i guess it's real easy to sit around the house and pretend you know a little something about law enforcement. Remember what Ben Franklin said It is better to keep your mouth shut and people think you are a fool than open your mouth and prove it.

i myself just dont believe that all that money and drugs are really counted for. who is it to say that it was really that amount of money and drugs.remeber mike hunt says these are his main 4 that he wanted off the street.peoples understand that when mike hunt has and personal problem with some one yes he will throw the book at you and he work very close with the feds to make sure you dont see aiken again read the mojo mays story oh boy that was not just about killing an informant its goes deeper than that and all the real peoples nos the story behind that mike is good he does a good job and he is fair because a lot of dirty white cops has came out of the closet and and lots of them have been showed up for stealing our tax dollars he dont care if you break the law you are read about or seen on the news.one question how much of that drugs go back to the streets and so where do they put that amount of of money when the court hearing is over i am like the the other commenter they probably do split the money beleive me they done already stole what they wanted before turning it in any way.if they feel like they are under paid come on free moeny who is going to tell on them sudden not the one got caught.

Comment Title: Bottom Line
Bad guys in jail, bottom line. No matter how, who, what, where, or when, I am glad they are off the street with their guns and drugs. I suggest we keep the feds involved as much as possible as the federal system does not allow parole, and they dish out time based on guidelines, nice and fair for all. Oops, unless you have criminal history, then you're screwed. Four people constitutes a conspiracy easily. Throw away the key. Thanks again to all involved.

It's nice to see a real arrest in Aiken County. We're growing tired of seeing all the false arrests that are made just based on unfounded allegations.

Comment Title: East Aiken Drug Busts?
ACSO needs to clean up the drug problem on the East side of Aiken County... Montmorenci and Windsor have several stores that deal drugs to the junkies... Cadle Crossing Rd. has drug dealers on it too... and Hwy 302 near Wagener has a large drug operation with "farming" for a cover, remember when the grow lights got too hot and burnt the chicken houses down!!! Go get'em ACSO!!!

Comment Title: Is anything EVER appreciated here in Aiken??
The local 'po-po' never seem to be appreciated for anything they do for this city or county! They risk their lives every day and are underpaid for what they have to put up with and do on a daily basis. To the person who said it was hard to believe the 'money was an even amount'- The article stated "more than $77,000 of drug money" was found-You should be ashamed to accuse them of stealing money!! Can't you read??? Cause you sure didn't seem to have any problem with your writing so I'm kind of confused?? Or do you just like accusing people of things that are not true and causing problems? I bet you are always 1 of the people on here complaining about 'arresting innocent people' but you are going to accuse law enforcement of stealing drug money with NO proof, No victim, No Nothing! These are the same 'po-po' that will SAVE your butt one day when you need them because that is the job they are sworn to do! That's why it takes a person of integrity to be a good cop because after years of dealing with your cyncism and complaints with no appreciation lots of people would become 'dirty cops' since they'd feel that was what was expected of them!! Good job ACSO and keep up the good work! Some of us here do appreciate your sacrifices and hard work!

Go get yourself an education, get a job, then come back and type intelligently. You are wasting away in your neverland and frying your neverbrain. You should thank your lucky stars everyday of your life that we have the protection of our police officers. One more thing pull up your baggy drawers and stop showing your filthy dirty, stinking underwear and for pete's sake take a bath sometimes and wash your nasty clothes.

Comment Title: Tip of the iceberg.
This is commendable but the law enforcement presence in this area must continue and needs to be stepped up even more. These lowlifes got what they deserved and there are more of them doing the same thing in this area of Aiken.

Well, well, well. It looks like our estute law enforcement group is effective after all. One of the suspects assaulted an officer? Can we get a civil suit on that one Mr. New Ellenton baggy pants. Just goes to show, the good guys always get the bad guys. I don't care what you say or who you are, thugs with guns and dope running the streets of Aiken all hours of the night is not acceptable. Hats off to all agencies involved. Crooks remember, if your not doing illegal things, your civil rights will not be violated, but if you are, you lose those rights like these four idiots. Great bust.
