Give old appliances for grand opening
Prestige Appliance is collecting used appliances in the days leading up to its grand opening celebration to donate to Aiken County Habitat for Humanity.
Between now and Friday, Prestige Appliance encourages anyone who has a working condition, used appliance no longer in use in their home to bring it to the new Prestige Appliance Outlet on Whiskey Road.
Furthermore, when a customer purchases a new appliance at Prestige, employees will remove the old appliance and save it for donation.
On Saturday, the company will give all of the used appliances to Habitat for Humanity as part of Prestige's grand opening celebration.
"It's exciting to celebrate our opening day and to share our good fortune with Habitat for Humanity," said Doug Huffer of Prestige Appliance. "We hope a lot of people will come out, join in the festivities, enjoy the free food and check out our new store. We've created a shopping atmosphere that's different from any other in Aiken. We're dedicated to delivering Aiken's best appliance values and to becoming 'the local's choice.'"
The grand opening celebration begins at 9 a.m., and the presentation of appliances will take place at 10 a.m. The store is located at 2575 Whiskey Road, across from Hobby Lobby in the Aiken Exchange shopping center.
Presenting the appliances to Habitat for Humanity President Henry Krippner will be well-known television spokesman Clay Jackson, the Maytag repairman.
In addition to the Maytag repairman, Saturday's event will include free hot dogs, soda and bottled water from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration for door prizes that include large and small appliances such as a Bosch Stainless Steel Dishwasher, a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, Viking Blender, microwaves and more will begin that day and continue through Nov. 14 when the winners will be drawn.
Throughout the week, Prestige is collecting additional funds for Habitat for Humanity, challenging the Aiken community to fill a dryer with money for the nonprofit organization.
Prestige Appliance opened its first location on Pendleton Street in 2007 while the Appliance Outlet opened earlier this year.
