Resident reports shotgun firing

Aiken Public Safety is investigating a report made Friday by a Brown Lane resident who reported a shooting incident.

Around 6 p.m., a man reportedly fired a shotgun into the air.

After the shooting, the men ran away. Witnesses told police the address of the man who they believe fired the gun.

The incident is under investigation.

Police: Man hides under bed, attacks

A 30-year-old Barnwell man was arrested in North Augusta this weekend on allegations he broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, hid under her bed, waited on her and then attacked her.

Wilson J. Wallace, 30, is charged with burglary and kidnapping.

The man reportedly jumped out at the woman around 7 p.m. Sunday.

She told police she reached for the phone to call for help, but he knocked the phone out of her hand.

She said he charged her, and she hit him in the arm with a hammer.

He then pushed her onto the bed and struck her in the head with his fist, she told police.

He ordered her to keep quiet and then put his hands around her neck.

She said she was able to get away and then hit the man again. This time she used a baseball bat that she keeps beside the bed.

The woman said she tried to get out of her apartment, but he pulled her to the floor and tried to choke her.

When police arrived, the man reportedly ran away. He was found a few minutes later running toward North Augusta Plaza and detained for arrest.
