The dynamic Youth Wing at the Aiken Community Playhouse (ACP) is gearing up for the 2008/2009 series which includes a November production of "The Laramie Project" and 2009 summer productions of "Doubt A Parable," "The Spitfire Grill" and "Mere Mortals." The group will hold its first meeting of the new season on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The group meets once a month on the second Saturday from August through May. The Youth Wing is open to all area middle and high school students interested in learning the different aspects of the theater. Meetings consist of workshops on acting, voice projection, technical aspects of the theater and many other topics. The group is hands-on and led by the talented and highly experienced ACP member Nancy Hansen.
There is no fee to join the Youth Wing, no preregistration and no auditions. Simply show up and discover the benefits.
New participants are welcome anytime and everyone is encouraged to join the fun at the start of a new season. This weekend's meeting will include the election of officers, an overview of the upcoming season, an explanation of Youth Wing activities and a workshop activity. Refreshments will be served.
The meeting will be held at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts located at 125 Newberry St. in downtown Aiken. For more information call the ACP at 648-1438.
