Cumbee Center gathers supplies for school kids
The Cumbee Center of Aiken County is asking for the public's help gearing up area children for the school year that lies just around the corner.
Paul Volz, volunteer/events coordinator for the Cumbee Center, said there are children in the community who will start off the school year without a book bag, pencil or pen.
"We are asking people to bring a back pack in with items for specific grade," he said. "Anything from K to 12."
Residents are asked to drop school supplies off at the Cumbee Center's Office at 135 Lancaster St. S.W.
Volz said they hope to have everything a week before school starts on Aug. 16.
The Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons is a nonprofit agency, which provides services for abused women, their children, teens and men, according to the nonprofit organization's website.
Those services are free and confidential.
